Shah Rukh Khan apologizes

shahrukh khan
SRK reached Mumbai today amidst tight security and Shiv Sena was expecting an apology from SRK, however SRK did apologize, but only to Karan and Kajol.

SRK said, I am really sorry. would like to apologize to Kajol, Karan Johar and our business partners. The film is going to be affected because of what I said. ‘My Name Is Khan,’ is not my film alone. It has Kajol, Karan ( Johar) and 150 other people whose livelihood depends upon it.”

He further added, “I have done nothing wrong in saying what I did about the Pakistani players, and I said that as an Indian. If Bal Thackeray will call me, I will meet him anytime. I enjoy his company.”

Meanwhile SRK who is a son of a freedom fighter, was branded as traitor by Shiv Sena.

Party chief Bal Thackerey said, “Shahrukh is a traitor and he has insulted sentiments of Indians by favouring Pakistan players.”

However Shiv Sena has decided not disrupt MNIK screening, they said, “How do we awaken this Congress party? This is how you rule. So go ahead. Let Shah Rukh Khan show his film My Name Is Khan without security. Traitors with the blessings of the Congress go ahead, the Shiv Sena will not block you.”

Good that Shiv Sena has decided against disrupting the screening of the movie.

Shah Rukh Khan Premieres New Film, “My Name Is Khan”

shahrukh khan
Shah Rukh Khan, the biggest star that most Americans have never heard of, is premiering his new movie “My Name Is Khan” in the oil rich capital of Abu Dhabi tonight.

Khan, the hottest film and commercial figure in India, is moving outside his usual love story-and-dance formula to tackle the politically sensitive topic of anti-Muslim discrimination. His producers, Imagenation Abu Dhabi and Fox Star Studios, an Indian joint venture between 20th Century Fox and Star broadcasting, is betting the film further opens America and the world to the magic of Bollywood.

Khan, himself a Muslim in a majority Hindu nation, plays an Indian Muslim with Asperger’s Syndrome. He travels across the United States in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, searching for his long-lost love. On his road journey, he discovers rage, intolerance and discrimination, not because of the color of his skin, but because of his religion.

The film reunites the box-office winning team of Kajol Devgan and Shah Rukh Khan, India’s two biggest actors, and director Karan Johar, who is often described as the man whose movies makes Indians fall in love.

Johar says his latest film stretched his story-making powers, as the movie goes beyond the usual Bollywood formula to focus on the wave of anti-Muslim discrimination that has swept the West and his own country over the last decade. “I tried to convey all of the various opinions, facts and propaganda that comes with the global issue of discrimination and intolerance towards a race of people completely unassociated by the evils of terrorism,” Johar said ahead of the film’s premiere.

It’s a message that resonates deeply in Abu Dhabi and elsewhere in the Arab world, where many have felt the blowback against their religion in the wake of Al Qaeda attacks across the globe.

The serious mien of the film didn’t diminish the glitz of the red carpet outside the hall before the film’s premiere. Sashaying in designer gowns, the A-list stars of the film poised for hundreds of paparazzi and screaming fans. Indian television journalists jostled against an anxious crowd to broadcast the first sighting of Khan from inside the gilded atrium of the palace.

For the primarily Indian crowd who turned out in gold-threaded saris and cocktail dresses to the gilded hall, the biggest news of the evening was the return to the big screen of India’s golden film couple. Khan and Kajol last starred together eight years ago in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,” and have appeared together in a total of six films including “My Name Is Khan.”

For the local Emiratis, though, the event marked another step in Abu Dhabi’s quest to climb up the ranks of movie heavyweights. Last year, the capital of the United Arab Emirates launched the $1 billion movie production company Imagenation Abu Dhabi. With its deep pockets, Imagenation has moved aggressively into movie financing, filling a gnawing hole that appeared in the wake of the global financial crisis.

Last fall, hundreds of executives from both American and European studios gathered in Abu Dhabi to network during the city-state’s third-annual film festival. “My Name is Khan” is the vehicle through which executives here hope to make Abu Dhabi a household name in America and India, the world’s two largest movie-going nations.

Imagenation co-produced “My Name Is Khan” along with Fox Star Studios, a joint venture between 20th Century Fox and Star, both of which are owned by News Corp., the parent company of The Wall Street Journal.

Fox Star Studios will market and distribute in India, while Fox Searchlight will market and distribute the film in the United States and 20th Century Fox International will distribute across the rest of the world.

The film will be opening globally this weekend, and producers say they are hoping for strong showing due to Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Hindu nationalists target movie starring Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan

shahrukh khan
MUMBAI, INDIA — Hindu nationalist mobs rampaged through India's cultural center Wednesday, tearing up movie posters and stoning a theater in protest of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's comments in support of Pakistani cricketers.

Police in Mumbai said they had detained more than 1,100 Hindu nationalists to prevent the disruption of screenings of Khan's new movie, "My Name is Khan."

Senior police official Himanshu Roy said 21,000 police would guard the more than 60 theaters in Mumbai that plan to screen the film and would frisk movie-goers.

"More security would be provided if needed," he said.

The Shiv Sena, a Mumbai-centered political party known for regional chauvinism and Hindu fundamentalism, has branded Khan a traitor for expressing regret that no cricketers from Pakistan — India's archrival — were chosen to participate in next month's Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

Khan, who is Muslim, has refused to apologize for the comments.

Shiv Sena activists rampaged through parts of Mumbai for a second day Wednesday, ripping down posters for Khan's highly promoted new movie. They attacked at least one cinema planning to screen the film, to be released Friday, and burned effigies of the actor.

Roy said 1,100 people were detained Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fearing more violence, several theaters have stopped advance ticket sales.

The Shiv Sena — which means Shiva's Army — has lost some influence in recent years but remains a force in Mumbai, where it combines hard-line Hindu politics with sporadic violence.

Shahrukh Khan faces Bajrang Dal's ire

shahrukh khan
Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's film My Name is Khan is akin to controversy. First, it was the Shiv Sena, who threatened to ban the film, then joined the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and now Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal.

The latest news is that Orissa unit of the Bajrang Dal has threatened to disrupt the screening of My Name is Khan in the state if Shahrukh fails to offer apology for supporting the inclusion of the Pakistani cricketers in the IPL.

Subash Chouhan, national co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, said that they would not allow the screening of My Name is Khan in the state unless Shahrukh apologise for his comments. He added that the actor acted like an agent to Pakistan by raising his voice for the cause of its cricketers.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena activists attacked some theatres in Mumbai yesterday for opening advance booking in spite of the promise by its chief Bal Thackeray that it would allow the screening of the film.

The incident took place right on the face of the Mumbai police, who had earlier promised full protection to the theatres screening the film.

My Name is Khan, which brings the incredible screen pair Shahrukh and Kajol together after eight long years, is scheduled for release this Friday (February 12). It is produced by Karan Johar.

They eventually marry and begin a business.

After the events of 9/11, Rizwan and Mandira begin to face a number of difficulties. Following a tragedy, they separate. In order to win her back, Rizwan embarks on a long journey across the United States.

However, Shah Rukh Khan stated that My Name Is Khan is "not about terrorism, or 9/11. It’s about a relationship between two people, between an individual and the State, and between an individual and the country."

Music of MNIK has become very popular and is composed by today's most successful composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Farah Khan is the choreographer of this film. My Name Is Khan will be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival which is taking place from February 12.

Shah Rukh Khan dazzles

shahrukh khan
The crowd lapped with glee Khan’s success mantra at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium, where he donned the avatar of a management guru anchoring a B-School Quiz organised by the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM).

Enthralling the audience with his trademark extempore lecture, and impromptu comments, Shahrukh Khan reigned supreme.

Although the programme was scheduled to start at 4.30 pm, it could actually begin only at 6.30 pm. But there was no sign of the impatience for the audience, as Khan eventually made an appearance sporting a black business-suit.

The entire stadium reverberated with whistles and laughter for almost two minutes when the star started his conversation with his avid fans in Kannada asking them - ‘Hege Iddeera’.

Recalling his Bangalore days, he said his grand parents are from this City who lived somewhere on Nandidurga Extention near Jayamahal Extention. He spent six years of his life in Bangalore untill he moved to Delhi.

Concept of success
Talking about his concept of success, Shahrukh said people who are scared of failure often succeed in their lives. “Success cannot teach you anything nor it can give you wisdom. But the fear of failure is the key to success. Always be scared of becoming a failure,” advised the star.

Remembering his parents, Shah Rukh said, they were not successful and remained a middle class family. He worked hard in his life because he was very afraid of poverty.
Once the interactions were completed, Khan switched gears to dive straight into the quiz programme. His presentations had doses galore of famous dialogues from his popular movies.

The star even displayed his dancing skills before the audience.
The arrival of Shahrukh Khan to anchor this programme was the talk of the town and people from all walks of life made a beeline at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium to catch a glimpse of the actor.

Cops misbehave with scribes
Mediamen, particularly from the electronic media, were in for some rude treatment from the policemen deployed at the entrace of Shahrukh Khan’s event.
At least four camera-persons and reporters of national TV channels were thrown out for not hanging their identity cards round their necks.

Video-clippings available with news channels showed that the officer who misbehaved with the media was H T Ramesh, an Assistant Commissioner of Police from the Banashankari Circle.

He reportedly threatened to resort to a lathicharge if the media did not obey his instructions.

This misbehaviour compelled the television journalists to stage a demonstration outside the Koramangala Stadium. Finally, senior police officials intervened and assured to conduct an inquiry into the episode.

Shahrukh Khan: King Of Bollywood

shahrukh khan
Shahrukh Khan is one of Bollywood's biggest stars and he returns to the big screen this week with his latest movie My Name Is Khan.

Khan studied at the Delhi's Theatre Action Group under the acclaimed Theatre Director Barry John. He kicked off his acting career in the late eighties with TV roles.

And it wasn't long before the movies roles came flowing in as he made his Bollywood debut in 1992 in Deewana.

Directed by Raj Kanwar the movie was a huge box office and Khan's career was up and running. Darr and Baazigar brought him critical acclaim, the latter also securing him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award.

Baazigar was a change in the Bollywood format, the hero kills the movie's heroine, as the level of violence shocked audiences.

Despite veering from the norm the movie was a big success and really earmarked Khan as a leading man.

More award success came his way for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in 1995 as he picked up his second Filmfare Best Actor Award.

After a quite year in 1996 Pardes marked his return in 2007 and was one of the biggest movies of the year.

By the turn of the century the popular actor had also turned his hand to producing, setting up his own production company Dreamz Unlimited, with Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani and Asoka under his belt.

The noughties brought him more box office success with the likes of Mohabbatein and Josh bringing him further acclaim.

2002 brought him one of his most famous roles as he starred in Devdas, as the title character, alongside Aishwariya Rai.

The movie follows the innocent affection of two children evolves into an enduring passion, binding the lovers across time and space and defying all convention.

A love that can never be, but which torments incessantly, drives the hero to dissipation and consigns the heroine to an unfulfilling marriage.

Over the next couple of years Khan had both box office and critical success with the likes of Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Chalte Chalte.

2007 brought him his most successful movie overseas when he starred in Om Shanti Om.

Khan plays Om Prakash Makhija, an actor struggling to move past being an extra in 1977. But despite his lowly status, he falls in love with and meets, in that order, a lovely A-list actress named Shanti.

But their love seems doomed to fail when the pair is killed in mysterious circumstances. Fast-forward 30 years, and they have been reborn, but this time it's Om who is the celebrity while Shanti (now called Sandy) tries to climb her way to the top.

But death wasn't enough to keep them apart as they meet again in their new lives, and the one responsible for their deaths will have to answer for what he did.

Airport denies body scanner photo claim by Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan

shahrukh khan
The airport owner said the claims made by the My Name Is Khan star on the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross show were “completely factually incorrect”.

The 44-year-old pin-up, nicknamed ‘SRK’, said female security staff at the London airport had printed his naked image, as captured by the newly-installed body scanner.

He even claimed he had autographed the pictures, although it is not clear if his comments were intended as a joke.

The star’s claims have resonance because his latest film, My Name Is Khan, which is about racial profiling of Muslims at airports after the September 11 2001 terror attacks.

A report last August that he was detained for questioning at Newark Liberty Airport near New York City sparked outrage in India.

Appearing on the BBC chat show, he told Mr Ross of his experiences with the new body-scanners, that were introduced at Heathrow on the orders of the UK government in the wake of the transatlantic Christmas Day terror attack on a plane as it neared Detroit.

He said: “I'm always stopped by the security, because of the name. And I think its okay: the western world is a little bit worried, paranoid and touchy, I guess – and freely when they're frisking you.

“I was in London recently going through the airport and these new machines have come up, the body scans. You've got to see them. It makes you embarrassed – if you're not well endowed.

“You walk into the machine and everything – the whole outline of your body – comes out.”

He added: “I was a little scared. Something happens [inside the scans], and I came out. Then I saw these girls – they had these printouts. I looked at them. I thought they were some forms you had to fill. I said 'give them to me' – and you could see everything inside. So I autographed them for them.”

However, a BAA spokeswoman said the claims were “completely factually incorrect” because the body-scanning equipment had no capability to print images. She stressed that images captured by the equipment could not be stored or distributed in any form.

She also added that the scanners had only been brought into use four days before the chat show was recorded and was only used for departing passengers, making it unlikely – although not entirely impossible – that the Bollywood actor would have used them in any case.

She said there would be no investigation into his claims because they "simply could not be true".

Khan was not immediately available for comment on the BAA denial.

He has appeared in more than 70 films, and has consistently topped popularity rankings in India for the past several years.

"I have a space for a National Award in my library" - Shahrukh Khan

shahrukh khan
"We are all together in this. I have the support of my friends. Hopefully it will get resolved without any of us having to do anything untowardly," said Shahrukh Khan about the continued tension created by political groups on the release of My Name Is Khan. "It is not about gloating over being a brave person or a coward or anything. It is just a basic normal stance that I have and that's what I would like it to remain, Inshallah," Khan added while addressing the media at a Press Conference at the majestic Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi today prior to the world premiere of My Name Is Khan. Also present at the occasion were Kajol, Karan Johar and Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh.

On being asked why Abu Dhabi was chosen as the venue for the world premiere of MNIK, Vijay Singh said, "Middle East's revenue contribution is 25% of the international revenues. This is a very important market for us. The reason why we are doing our world Premiere here is because of the theme of the film, the importance of Abu Dhabi and this region we believe has a lot of potential."

Shahrukh has been very active on Twitter and has a massive following. It is amazing how foreigners who don't even understand Hindi but yet they love him so much. What does he have to tell such fans? "I asked some people since you don't understand the language how come you like Indian films, especially my friends in Germany where we are headed tonight. A wonderfully beautiful lady I was chatting with in the night the other day said we have a button for everything for cars, escalators, for toasters, for microwaves but we didn't have a button for crying and your films provide us a button for crying. All the guys who write to me on twitter, I'd say I love you."

On being asked as a producer what was the contribution Karan Johar was expecting from the lucrative Mumbai territory, Karan simply said, "Main bas dil se filmen banata hoon percentage agar mujhe pata chal jaaye to main kuch aur hota." Vijay Singh set the things in perspective by saying, "My Name Is Khan is going to be the widest release that any Bollywood film has had. A typical big Bollywood film comes with 350 prints in the international market. We are releasing 500-600 prints. The question of what is Mumbai's contribution is not important. This film is being released over a period of 4-5 months across the world in a phased manner. We are releasing in 40 countries in the first phase and another 25 in phase two."

Shahrukh was asked if he was expecting a National Award for this film and he said, "Acting is a higher spiritual experience for me. I would like to believe Khan has been a higher spiritual experience. Whether I get any award for this or not I think I will be evolved and rewarded anyways in my heart, mind and soul. I have a space in my library for a National Award. And I promise you before I finish I'll keep one there or steal one."

On the final note let's find out what Shahrukh had to say to everyone who has been trying to cash in on the present controversy: "I hope everything turns out well. I live on hope. And better sense prevails for everyone and hopefully the film will release and lots of people will watch it and everyone will like it."

'Why isn't Shah Rukh Khan here to help us?'

shahrukh khan
Mumbai: Not willing to risk further damage, Manoj Desai, executive director of Maratha Mandir, has said that he would not be screening the movie. “Irrespective of how the situation pans out over the next two days, I will not be screening My Name Is Khan at my two theatres — Maratha Mandir and Gaiety,” said Desai.

“On Tuesday, Sena protestors tore the screen at Maratha Mandir, the damage costing Rs82,500, even though I hadn’t put up any posters related to the film nor did I open the advance booking. So why was my theatre targeted?” He also asked the commitment of the filmmakers. “It’s sad that while the team of MNIK is attending a lavish premiere in Abu Dhabi, theatre owners in Mumbai are facing the party’s ire,” he said.

“Shouldn’t Shah Rukh Khan have been in Mumbai in this time of crisis? I’d rather show the Hindi dubbed version of the Hollywood film, The Wolfman, than screen MNIK.”

Meanwhile, Khan, at a pre-release press conference at Abu Dhabi, said that he hoped “better sense prevails in Mumbai. We have worked really hard on the movie and we just want people to watch the movie”.

Shahrukh Khan in full mood to go comic!

shahrukh khan
The audience may have loved Shahrukh Khan's serious acting in films like RAB NE BANA DI JODI, CHAK DE INDIA and SWADES but there is no denying the fact that apart from romance (where he is the undisputed king), the audience simply adores SRK's comedies. His quick wit and deadly humour and the electric energy that the man oozes helps him to sail through comic roles with ease and lan. And so when the Baadshah himself expressed his desire to make a comedy after the sci-fi flick, RA-1 and DON sequel, it has to be greeted with much joy!

In fact Shahrukh has confirmed in a recent interview that he has grown tired of serious acting. Commending ex-comedy king, Govinda, SRK says that he feels that Chi Chi surely deserves a National Award for the brilliant comic roles that he has done. He also expressed his desire to win a National Award quite regretting the fact that he was ignored for the awards for his performances in SWADES and CHAK DE INDIA, and in his own characteristic humour added that it is better that he gets a National Award before getting an Oscar, which will make his children happy .

Well, SRK here's wishing you get the National as well as the Oscar.

Asin rejects Farah Khan’s offer because of SRK?

Asin had a wonderful start with Bollywood as she bagged films with two Khans - Aamir and Salman. She was very vocal that she wanted to work with the third powerful Khan - Shah Rukh. However, when she had the chance to work with SRK, she turned it down.

A few days ago, Farah Khan offered her a role in her next, Happy New Year, which stars Shah Rukh Khan. Asin took her time to think over the offer, consulted her father and then sent word to Farah that she won’t be doing the film.

A close hand reveals, “Ever since Asin appeared on Farah’s show Tere Mere Beach Mein, they have been in touch. When Farah offered her the role, initially Asin was quite excited. It is not known why she refused Farah’s film.”

The close hand further added, “She conveyed that the dates which Farah needed would be clashing with her other assignments.”

It is believed that Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have set their eyes on the female lead in Happy New Year. Kareena Kapoor is also being considered.

SRK and Kareena come together once again

After being was paired with Shah Rukh Khan in Ashoka, Bebo was completely smitten by the actor’s charisma. even though the film didn’t do well, they remained fast friends after that and Kareena readily did item songs for both Don and Billu. Now finally, the two of them will be coming together again in SRK’s next ambitious project Ra 1.

The sci-fi fantasy will be directed by Anubhav Sinha (of Tum Bin and Dus fame). It’s been in the pre-production stages for a while, but is expected to go on the floors early next year. Our source said, “SRK’s always wanted to do a science fiction film, which is why he was keen on doing the film Robot with south director Shanker. However things did not work out between them. Now he’s incorporated many of the creative ideas that he had given Shanker into Ra 1 where he will be seen in a larger-than-life role of a superhero. Kareena will play his love interest, and the two stars’ dates have already been finalised.”

Ra 1 will have loads of special effects and some portions of the film will also be animated. The budget for SFX alone is said to be more than Rs 25 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had been in the HDIL Couture Week

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had been anxiously wating for the finale to showcase their lines. In a constant show of one-upmanship, this round goes to Shah Rukh Khan. At the glam event, SRK will be in the limelight, while Salman Khan has to be content with showcasing his collection on Oct 13.

At any couture week, the grand finale has the most prestige and it’s no wonder that both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had been eyeing the slot. While Shah Rukh Khan is walking with his wife Gauri Khan for the launch of Karan Johar’s clothesline, Salman Khan will walk to display his charity clothesline, Being Human.

It is surprising that Salman Khan could not make it to the grand finale despite having many aces up his sleeve: the biggest stars Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar will be walking with him on the ramp. Not so long ago, there was a buzz that Salman Khan had edged out Shah Rukh for the grand finale. A source says, “Both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan were keen to do the grand finale. A grand finale in a fashion event is always very special.”

More interesting is that Shah Rukh Khan managed to elbow out Salman Khan despite the fact that Salman’s endorsement manager and the couture week event organiser is the same person, Reshma Shetty.

Confirming that Shah Rukh Khan will walk the grand finale, Reshma maintained, “Salman Khan did not want the grand finale. He is walking for charity. His show is not the couture show per se. He and the other actors with him will walk the ramp on Oct 13. We had blocked the dates of every star walking in the event two months ago. Salman Khan won’t even be here in Mumbai on the day of the grand finale.

Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar remains busy in reading., He opens books whenever he can take some time as the actor is one of the busiest stars . In the age of internet and cell phones has taken a backseat, and gone are the days when people of all ages could be seen immersed in their books, at the slightest hint of free time at hand. Shah Rukh too is like Salman, after all

Shah Rukh Khan
If you think Salman was the only one doing charity, think again! Apparently his friend-turned-foe Shah Rukh Khan too has a heart of gold. The King Khan has been doing a lot of charitable work since a long time. But apparently he doesn't like talking about it. But hey, trust Juicy Mausi to find it all out for you!

It so happened that I bumped into a set of parents at a college gathering recently. And guess what they had to tell me, Apparently, SRK sponsors underprivileged students on a regular basis. He buys books and arranges tuition fees for students whose parents are to poor to do the same.

Well, the news surely got me thinking. So I did a little snoopin' around. A little birdie then told me that apparently, the King Khan also donates huge sums of money to the children's cancer ward in Nanavati Hospital. Khan's parents had breathed their last in the hospital and he has a special attachment to it. Apparently, Khan even dreams of building an advanced hospital in Mumbai.

Well, Juicy Mausi has just started respecting this Khan a little more... if that was possible!
