Rakhi Sawant’s mom Jaya evicted from ‘Bigg Boss’

Item girl Rakhi Sawant’s mother Jaya Friday became the first to be evicted from the “Bigg Boss” house. And her exit from the reality show was as dramatic as her entry.

When Jaya’s name was announced as the evicted participant of this week, she shed silent tears and seemed extremely disappointed. She nevertheless hugged some of the contestants and even blessed comedian Raju Srivastav when he touched her feet.

Jaya had shocked all and sundry when she was welcomed by host, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, as one of the 13 contestants of the show Sunday.

Apart from being the most unexpected participant, she also revealed her motive of going into the show - making peace with her daughter Rakhi. But alas, she didn’t get much time in the “Bigg Boss” house.

Her age and non-celebrity background became a major drawback for her in the five days that she was on the show. While she was the oldest participant, Jaya was also laughed at for her lifestyle and her failed attempts at singing and dancing.

On more than one occasion, she was also seen praying to Jesus to help her get Rakhi back. But none of it convinced her co-participants Shamita Shetty, Vindu Dara Singh, Raju Srivastav, Tanaaz Currim, Claudia Ciesla, Aditi Gowitrikar, Bhaktiyaar Irani and Rohit Verma from nominating her for eviction.

They felt she was “out of place”, “less lively” and “uncomfortable” in the presence of a much younger crowd.

The final decision, however, depended on viewer’s votes.

Before leaving, Jaya was asked to nominate one person who she felt spent most of the time in dressing up each day. And she chose fashion designer Rohit Verma. As a result, he will now have to dress up simply for the next week.

“Bigg Boss 3″, the third season of the Indian version of popular international show “Big Brother”, has various celebrity participants locked inside a specially designed house for 84 days. They give up a life of luxury to be under 24X7 camera surveillance for the show.

TRP Wars: Big B beat SRK yet again!

According to aMap, Amitabh Bachchan’s small screen comeback as the pop philosopher on Color’s ‘Bigg Boss 3′ has generated a record television rating point (TRP) of 6.0 for the launch episode aired on October 4.

‘Bigg Boss 3′ beat the first-episode ratings of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ (TRP of 4) aired last year and ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati-3′ (TRP of 5.8) in 2007.

‘Bigg Boss 3′ also overshadowed the opening TRP of reality shows like ‘Raakhi Ka Swayamvar’ on NDTV Imagine (TRP of 3.7), ‘Aap Ki Kachehri’ anchored by ex-policewoman Kiran Bedi for the second season (TRP of 3.4) and Akshay Kumar-anchored reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi-2′, also on Colors, was at 3.

aMap says the ratings of ‘Bigg Boss 3′ are double those of ‘Bigg Boss 2′ last year when actor Shilpa Shetty was the anchor, or Bigg Boss 1, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television three years ago.

‘Bigg Boss 3′ was watched by nearly 11 million viewers, almost double ‘Bigg Boss 2′, the viewership data shows.

Advertisers have expressed strong faith in the show that has attracted top spenders such as Vodafone, Sunsilk, Garnier, Max New York Life insurance, and GM Chevrolet among others.

“It is an interesting show that has always received higher ratings. Bigg Boss 3 will be able to sustain high viewership to meet our marketing objectives,” says a senior executive of a leading brand that has bought on-air sponsorship time on Colors.

Industry sources reveal that Amitabh Bachchan has been paid Rs. 126 crore to host ‘Bigg Boss 3′.

Shamita Shetty, Poonam Dhillon in Big Boss 3

shamita shetty
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty found international fame with the UK based show 'Big Brother' and now younger sister Shamita Shetty is stepping into the world of reality TV with 'Big Boss'.

The third season of the popular show will be high on glamour with Shetty's housemates being yesteryear's beauty Poonam Dhillon and item girl Sherlyn Chopra.

The show which airs from October 4 on Colors, has already grabbed headlines by roping in none other than superstar Amitabh Bachchan to play 'pop philosopher'.

While the channel has gone to great lengths to keep the names of the housemates a secret, sources told PTI that Shamita Shetty, Poonam Dhillon, director-actor Kamal Khan of 'Desh Drohi' fame and Bindu, the son of actor Dara Singh will be a part of the show.

Rajesh Khanna and Sidhu in Bigg Boss 3?

big boss 3
Yes you have heard it right, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Rajesh Khanna more famously known as Kaka will be soon entering in Bigg Boss3. However, both of them are yet to confirm their presence in the show. “Siddhu’s name has popped out as one of the contestants of Bigg Boss 3. His humour may keep every one entertaining and happy. While Kaka is also tipped to be in the Bigg Boss interacting with Big B and the inmates,” chirps the khabroo.

Rajesh Khanna and Big B had some issues in the past. "This can create some rift between the two actors in the show. The channel is planning to cash on that too. Though he is yet to confirm about his presence in the show but if the other sources are to be believed he will be there in the show," quips the source.

“About Sidhu, even he is to be confirmed as the next season of Laughter Challenge is soon to start. Though channel is keen on having him to bring some humours touch which will also help other contestants in the show,” concludes the informer. So now one needs to wait and watch for who is in and out of the Bigg Boss house. Well it will be definitely interesting to watch Kaka in the house... Isn't it?

Big B to be a part of 'Bigg Boss 3'

Amitabh Bachchan
After having got the whole world under his 'baritoned' sway, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan will now be seen in the world famous reality show 'Bigg Boss' (Season 3), that will get kick started on 'Colors' channel from the month of October. Contrary to what the whole world thought, Big B will not be in as a participant, but as a 'Pop philosopher'!

Insiders have it that, since the said channel are well aware of the gravitational pull of Big B; they did not mind shelling the big bucks to take him on board. What will be really interesting is to see Amitabh yielding the spotlight again, after the famous 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', which was on Star Plus. As Rajesh Kamat (CEO of Colors) rightly puts it that they chose Big B, because, they needed to take the 'Bigg Boss' show to another level. At the same time, Kamat was candid enough to confess that if Big B hadn't agreed to do this show, they would have surely scrapped the very thought of the 'Pop Philosopher' on the show.

Like everybody else, we at Bollywood Hungama, too begun the countdown for the nest season of 'Bigg Boss'!

Road less travelled

mtv roadies
Irrfan Khan, the brilliant actor who has films such as Maqbool, The Namesake and A Mighty Heart to his credit, will now be seen on the popular show “MTV Roadies”. In the seventh season of the show, the actor will grill the contestants in his inimitable style.

He talks about the show and his forthcoming films.

How has the journey been from television to films and now back to television?

It has been a long journey. I started with theatre and gradually moved to television. I did several serials such as ‘Chandrakanta’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ and ‘Sara Jahaan Hamara’. These serials did well but I found the format boring. Then films happened. I am happy the way my career has shaped up. The idea of going back to television is not unexciting today. With all these reality shows on television, the actor doesn’t have to shoot for long hours and the audience also enjoys such shows.

Why did you decide to be part of ‘Roadies’?

‘Roadies’ is one of the few shows I watch on TV. I like the format of the show. It tests one’s physical and mental skills. But the main reason to be a part of the show is that I love travelling. You get to see different parts of the world. This time roadies will go to Africa.

What would be your role?

Mine is a small role. I am here to create havoc in the lives of the contestants (laughs). I will be someone whom all the contestants will hate. No one can guess the surprises I will offer. They are based on the seven deadly sins.

You are known as a serious and intense actor. Are you trying to break away from that image?

I don’t know why I am always associated with serious roles. I am not a serious guy in real life. I am consciously trying to break away from that image. I am an actor and I want to do all kinds of roles. I did comedy in Dil Kabaddi and I am hopeful that I’ll get to do more comic roles. I am doing lot of action in my latest movie Acid Factory. Now I want to do a romantic role. I don’t want the audience to form a certain image of me.

Salman, Shahrukh together in a reality show

srk
The two rivals Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan might get a chance to come face to face in the upcoming reality show, Dance Premier League. Not only Shahrukh and Salman but the format is such that few other prominent Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor and Prabhudeva will also participate and they will cheer for their respective teams individually in separate episode. No actors will come face to face until they clash at the finals.

The organizer feels hesitate to divulge any details of the show but accepted that some stars have been approached. They even did not deny the possibility of Shahrukh and Salman on the show. The participants will come from different zones battling it out with each other.

Well, it would be more interesting to see if somehow Shahrukh and Salman get to cheer for their respective teams in the grand finale.

Khatron Ke Khiladi - Season 2 winner revealed?

Akshay Kumar
Last year, 13 of the most gorgeous ladies of tinsel town, viz. Yana Gupta, Aditi Govitrikar, Pooja Bedi, Sonali Kulkarni, Tupur Chatterjee, Sayali Bhagat, Nethra Raghuraman, Anjana Sukhani, Dippanita Sharma, Payal Rohatgi and Meghna Naidu had the ball of their lives with superstar Akshay Kumar a.k.a. Khiladi Kumar as their host in the most adventurous game show on TV called ‘Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi’, a show in which these gorgeous ladies were subjected to the meanest of tasks, in which some won, while others ‘chic-kened’ out! The final winner of last year turned out to be model-actress Nethra Raghuraman.

This year too, Akki is back with yet another set of 13 contestants (read ‘bevy of beauties’) viz. Bruna Abdullah, Sushma Reddy, Carol Gracias, Jesse Randhawa, Mandira Bedi, Nauheed Cyrusi, Rosa Catalano, Rupali Ganguly, Sonika Kaliraman, Shonali Nagrani, Pia Trivedi, Shveta Salve and Anushka Manchanda. Akki also adds that in the show’s second season, everything will have twice the excitement and twice the danger.

Akshay, in his own words, says that the second season of the show has everything doubled, right from gruesomeness to the excitement. Well, with everything being double, one would also assume that the suspense about the winner is also double. But, not when Galatta.com and its most reliable sources are around! If our sources are to be believed (and we have every reason to believe them), the winner for this season is the ex-VIVA member and the singing toast of the season Anushka Manchanda. Looking at the way her career is going these days, this win will only add more glitter to her already glittering cap. Way to go, Anushka!

No Raghu Ram in Roadies!

Raghu Ram
For six years, Raghu Ram has endeared himself to the audiences with his rude and humiliating comments on MTV's reality adventure series "Roadies", but it appears that the brain behind the show, might no longer be a part of its forthcoming season.

"Raghu has been with the show for many years. People know the kind of reactions to expect from him but this time he is not really a part of the show. In fact, having said that, we haven't yet revealed who will be interviewing the contestants. There's a huge surprise lying there... So you never know. It will blow your mind," MTV general manager Ashish Patil told IANS at the launch of the seventh season of the show here Saturday.

The event featured host Rannvijay Singh, VJ Bani, creative director Vivek Bhushan alias Bumpy and Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan - but not Raghu.

Asked about his absence from the event, as well as from the promotional clips of the show, Patil said: "Raghu isn't really a part of the show this time. With every season, we try and do something different and surprise the audience, so this is just a part of it".

Till now, Raghu was known to be the creator of the show and so an integral part of it as well. In the last season, he had joined hands with his identical twin brother Rajiv Laxman to give double trouble to contestants, but had gradually chosen to reduce his presence on the show.

However, it seems now, that he has completely withdrawn from it.

But then, this should not come as a surprise as Raghu had hinted during the sixth season that he might no longer be at the helm of affairs.

Said Patil: "There was one season where we had Gulshan Grover as the bad man, then we had Raghu Ram introduced in the interview rounds, then Raghu and Rajiv. So its just that now we are going to come up with something different and unpredictable."

Entering its seventh year, "Roadies" has not only proved to be one of the most popular annually-held shows on Indian television, but also the longest running reality show. This time, the "Roadies" journey will kick start from the barren lands of Bhuj in Gujarat and will continue to Egypt, Kenya and Tanzania in Africa.

The show will be at its "deadliest and wildest ever" as hopeful contestants will have to pass through a seven round audition process, which will begin online through www.mtvindia.com/roadies.

Irrfan Khan will be seen as a menace to contestants as he will throw open seven twists based on the seven sins - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride - during the show.

"I'm going to be there to spoil their lives," he said.

The show will go on air in September.

Mika forcefully kisses Negar Khan

Negar KhanMika is no stranger to forcefully kissing woman. Who can forget the infamous lip lock with drama queen Rakhi Sawant. But now the Punjabi singer had forced himself on Negar Khan on Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. Mika could nor resist himself from forcing himself on sizzling Negar whose presence has heated up the scene in an otherwise dull and scary jungle.

Mika had been apparently making his moves on Negar right from day one. In an upcoming episode he will be seen trying to embrace the hot belle by pulling her close to him. Mika then will grab her by her waist and try to forcefully make her sit on his lap. When Negar resists Mika will plant one of his trademark kisses on her cheek.

Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao had started off with high TRP raiting but with the exit of Shweta Tiwari and bad girl Palak the show is struggling to hold onto its audience. Mika and Negar's kiss might just be another of those teasers to bring in new viewers to the show. A better idea though could be bringing in Rakhi Sawant and Elesh Parujanwala and allow them to romance in the dense Malaysian jungle.
