I play bold role in Karthik Calling Karthik: Deepika

Model-turned-actress Deepika Padukone has revealed that she plays a "bold" character in Farhan Akhtar's forthcoming production Karthik Calling Karthik.

"Karthik Calling Karthik is a romantic thriller and my role is quite bold and optimistic in the film as opposite to Farhan's which is a very pessimistic one," said Deepika.

Directed by Vijay Lalwani, the film is about a man who gets phone calls from himself. It is co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banner Excel Entertainment and Amit Chandra and Vijay Lalwani of Magic Beans.

The 23-year-old actress was in the capital to launch two new soap variants of Fiama Di Wills, which is also the associate sponsor of the upcoming Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WLIFW).

Deepika, the brand ambassador of Fiama Di Wills, also unveiled designer Sumeet Varma's preview collection for WLIFW titled 'The Life of a Swan-Swan lake'.

Asked if she preferred Indian or western wear, she said: "Personally I like Indian dresses, but I am ok with western outfits as well. While choosing a dress what I see is whether I am comfortable in it or not."

Once a state-level badminton player, the actress is also game for promoting other sports. "I played badminton with Aamir Khan for a cause. (And) I will try the same way if I can promote other games like athletics and basketball too along with badminton," said Deepika, who was last seen in romantic drama Love Aaj Kal.

Asked about her Diwali plans, she said: "I will be with my family."

Anushka Sharma replaces Deepika Padukone

MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone has lost one of her first brands, Parachute to Anushka Sharma. The actress after being the face of the brand for two years has just been replaced by Sharma. The commercial featuring the new model has already been shot and will be out on television screens by the end of October.

Parachute had signed Deepika before the release of her first film, Om Shanti Om. Even before the hoardings of the film were put up, Parachute cashed in on the curiosity of the public and began their campaign. But just two years down the road, the actress has been replaced. Sources from the brand say, “Deepika’s prices have jacked up immensely. She is also endorsing quite a few products. That went against our campaign. Anushka is a fresh face and has been a model. She fits the bill and so we went ahead with her.”

Yashraj handles the career of Sharma as she was launched by their banner in their home production, Rab Ne Bana De Jodi. Although no one at Yashraj gave any information, we were told, “The ad was shot by Sandeep Choudhary in a Mumbai studio. Anushka shot for the commercial before her shooting schedule to the USA for Parmeet Sethi’s yet to be titled film. She has been given a few days off from her shoot to return to India to promote the brand that she has signed.”

One hopes that the two girls don’t go the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rani Mukherji way. Both were good friends, but when Rani replaced Ash in Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte, the two parted ways for good.

Directed and Produced by Jayant C Paranje Love Forever is made under the banner of 'Laughing Entertainment' has got Ranadeep and Mrudula in the lead.

The shooting of the movie is in progress at Hyderabad. For the first time, Deepika Padukone, appeared in a Telugu film, that too in an out of the ordinary song.

The director admits, "The word love is forever sounds fresh. In whatever way you take it, there will be yet another angle in the love."

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor see each other off!

Mumbai: Another celebrity couple that attracts attention is Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. There are always speculations about the status of their relationship. But this couple is very much in love.

It is heard that Deepika and Ranbir try to see each other off at the airport if either of them is travelling.

Deepika Padukone: I'm always with Kapoor Family

Bollywood actress Neetu Singh's mother passes away. She was 71. For quite sometime, Neetu's mother Rajee Singh was not keeping in good health and she was staying with Neetu and Rishi Kapoor at their bungalow, Krishna Raj. Rajee Singh died of cardiac arrest on 25th August early morning.

She was cremated last evening. Deepika Padukone has spent the whole day with the Kapoor family and told that she's always ready to lend a helping hand with kapoor family going through a big family loss. Deepika was about to leave for Italy but cancelled her program on hearing the sad news.

Rajee Singh was a strong lady and she was behind Neetu's promising filmy career. It was only after Neetu's marriage to Rishi Kapoor that Rajee became little free from her responsibility. Her bungalow in Pali hill was close to Neetu and Rishi Kapoor's but due to poor health, she stayed with her daughter and son-in-law.

Ranbir and sister Riddhima were very close to their grandmother.

Deepika’s eyes are set on Salman Khan

Basking in the success of Love Aaj Kal, Deepika Padukone has her eyes set on none other than Salman Khan.

Talking about Salman, Deepika says that "I feel Salman is a very honest person. He is genuine about what he feels and what I have read and known about him, he seems to be very caring."

Deepika began her innings in Bollywood with Om Shanti Om in which she starred alongside Shahrukh Khan and had since worked with Akshay Kumar in Chandni Chowk to China, Ranbir Kapoor, in Bachna Ae Haseeno , and Saif Ali Khan in this summer’s smash hit Love Aaj Kal.

Currently Deepika is filming for the comedy Housefull, in which she costars with Akshay Kumar.

Deepika Padukone is sick!

Deepika Padukone, who was down with malaria in London, had a reason to cheer up.

The actress who is shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull was given a week off for recovering from her illness by the thoughtful team. Deepika took advantage of the holiday and called her family over to London to spend some time with her.

The actress doesn’t get to spend enough time with them and can hardly go to meet them in Bangalore where they stay.

They had also come to visit her in Bangkok when she was shooting for Chandni Chowk to China. She, however, doesn’t want to call them to boring places. She believes they should have fun whenever they visit her.

Deepika Padukone rides high on upcoming comedy flicks

Mumbai: After making her debut in Shah Rukh Khan's "Om Shanti Om", Deepika Padukone gave a shot to romantic comedies like "Bachna Ae Haseeno" and action flick "Chandni Chowk To China".

The lanky Bollywood beauty has shifted her gear towards comic role. Deepika will be seen in "Karthik Calling Karthik" and "Housefull" doing humorous role.

It was revealed that the actress has already enfolded up the shoot plan of "Karthik Calling Karthik" and is busy shooting for Sajid Khan's "Housefull".

"Housefull" is an out-and-out comedy that features the gorgeous "Lara Dutta" and the real dude of Bollywood "Akshay Kumar".

"I was lost. But Sajid does one very good thing, he acts out every scene. I found it easy to follow what he wants. I'm learning fast. I've realized that comedy is the hardest thing to do. And all these actors are so good at it. Akshay has worked with the best comedy directors of the dream world. I'm in the process of learning comic timing watching him," Deepika revealed when questioned whether the actress was edgy before trying comedy.

Deepika Padukone will have two comedy films releasing next year

Deepika Padukone has now moved on to comic roles with Sajid Khan's Housefull and Karthik Calling Karthik where Farhan Akhtar co-stars.

Her earlier roles included Chandni Chowk To China (action genre), Om Shanti Om (heavy melodrama) and Bachna Ae Haseeno (romantic comedy).

While she has wrapped the shoot of Karthik Calling Karthik, she is currently shooting for Housefull in London.

On the Housefull set, most people Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutt, and director Sajid Khan are closet comedians with a sharp comic timing. Deepika was, quite literally, at her wit's end. She says, "I was lost. But Sajid does one very good thing. He acts out every scene. I find it easy to follow what he wants. I'm learning fast. I've realised that comedy is the hardest thing to do. And all these actors are so good at it. Akshay has worked with the best comic directors. I'm learning comic timing watching him."

Says Deepika, "I'm very comfortable working with Akshay. I was looking forward to doing comedy. It took me a while to get a hand of it. Now I'm having a ball doing comedy for the first time. "

About working with Farhan in Kartik Calling Kartik with Farhan, she says, "Since I'd already met him on his chat show Oye It's Friday, we got along on the set immediately. Farhan makes people around him comfortable. Maybe it was because he's been there done it all…acting, directing, producing. He made me very comfortable. When Kartik started and got over, I didn't even realize. It was so much fun."
