Preity Zinta not an 'item girl' in my film: Director

She is making a special appearance in a song in his directorial debut Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna, but filmmaker Prem R. Soni says it will be "derogatory to call Preity Zinta an item girl".

"I have nothing against item girls or item songs. After all, they have time and again managed to spice up the proceedings in so many films. However, in the context of Main Aurr Mrs Khanna, it would be really derogatory to call Preity Zinta an item girl," Soni said.

The actress features in the song, Happening.

The 34-year-old director always wanted Preity in his first film even though he got a dream pair in Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

"While I had signed other actors for the film, I always wanted Preity to be a part of it. Actually, I didn't even think about any other options and was dead sure that Preity had to be cast. I told her the same and was adamant that she had to be in it," said Soni.

Preeti plays Haseen Jagmagiya in the film and, thankfully for Soni, she said 'yes' without much ado.

"Of course, she did have her initial reservations since she hadn't played a part like this before. But then she also said, 'What the heck, let me do it'. She laughed and agreed to be there.

Preity's presence enhances the entertainment quotient of the film, says Soni.

"But then she is not randomly walking in and walking out of the frames. As Haseena Jagmagiya, she is quite funny and comes at the point in the film when Salman and Kareena are on the verge of making or breaking their relationship as a married couple."

How about the other angle in the film, Sohail Khan? Does he bring in an extramarital angle?

"This question has been asked so many times and I am glad that good curiosity is being built around the film, courtesy a smart promotional campaign. However, let me tell you that the film doesn't have an extramarital relationship or cheating angle.

"It just tells the story from the point of view of an outsider. Sohail is someone who looks at Mrs. Khanna (Kareena) and sees the kind of issues that she is facing.

Also starring Yash Tonk in an important role, the film is a co-production of Ronnie Screwala and Sohail. It is releasing on the same day as Blue and All The Best.

Preity to have her own chat show, paid Rs 10 crore

Preity Zinta is being paid Rs. 10 crore for hosting a 20 episode chat show which will premiere on TV in mid-December.

The Preity Zinda Show, as it is called, will have Preity interviewing celebrity guests and will be a weekly show.

Last week, the channel’s officials met her and finalized the deal in Los Angeles. Preity is awaiting her television debut eagerly.

But as of now, the news is being kept under the wraps and no one is allowed to say anything about it this soon.

Mumbai: If rumours are to be believed the dimpled beauty and Mr. Perfectionist are going to share the silver screen once again.Bollywood actors Preity Zinta and Aamir Khan will be soon seen in an Aamir Khan's production. It is rumoured to be a directorial debut of Bengali director Shoumik Sen.

According to the sources the project will take-off after the release of "Delhi Belly".Aamir has approached Preity already to discuss the movie.The news is still not confirmed by Aamir as yet.

Preity and Aamir had hit-off well with ‘Dil Chahta Hai' earlier. Let's see whether the two very talented actors will be able to rock this time too.

Preity ready to rock Main aur Mrs. Khanna!

The stunning Preity Zinta has been much out of the public eye, especially since she has had no recent Bollywood releases. Zinta was last seen in Heroes back in 2008 and she also played a song cameo in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The Kings XI co-owner will now be seen doing an item number, 'Happening' in the much-awaited Salman and Kareena starrer, Main aur Mrs. Khanna.

If Preity Zinta, Main aur Mrs Khanna rumours have it right, the bubbly girl has been quite serious about this item number. She had been rehearsing with ace choreographer, Farah Khan for approximately 10 days prior to shooting the song. It is said that Preity practised for about 3 hours a day and she was also on special diet. Not to forget, the stunning beauty worked out, did yoga and also took swimming lessons to get in shape for the song sequence.

The song is said to have cost riches as it was a last minute addition to the film. The theatre in which the song was shot cost plenty to rent and furthermore, the whole cast and crew were expected to travel to the setting. The song is set in an open theatre located in the heart of Dubai. The song is definitely expected to come onto your music hitlist and for most, it will help diminish Preity's bubbly and serious image!

Preity will next be seen in Har Pal starring Shiney Ahuja which is in post-production mode. However due to the allegations imposed on Shiney, there is no confirmed release date of the movie as of now.

Main Aur Mrs. Khanna is ready to hit the silver screen on October 16th.

Preity Zinta in Aamir’s next?

They made a romantic pair and lit the screen in Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and now Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta are all set to create the magic again. If Aamir’s plans materialize, Preity and Aamir will be seen together in a film produced by Aamir Khan Productions.

Aamir has signed a debutant director Shoumik Sen to direct this film starring Aamir in the lead and it’s Preity Zinta on Aamir’s mind for the female lead. Industry sources confirm that Aamir is already in talks with Preity for the film that will go on floors after ‘Delhi Belly’.

Bengali filmmaker Shoumik has started working on the script for this untitled film. Aamir has the habit of keeping his projects under wraps and so this time too, he would make announcements at the right time. All we can do is wait and watch...

Preity Zinta's Hot Item Number For Salman!

Preity Zinta would be seen for a special song in UTV's and Sohail khan Production's "Main Aur Mrs. Khanna". A source said, "Preity was specially made to travel to Dubai for a single day to shoot for the song.

The song is a delight to watch and gets your foot tapping to its groovy tunes. The production team had to spend a fortune on that single day outdoor shoot for Preity, as Director Prem Soni required a huge open air theater for the song, which they managed to get in Dubai."

"When Preity and director Prem Soni were thinking who could choreograph the song, they could only think of one person that time, and it was Farah Khan.

Preity was very keen on having Farah choreograph the song, and also Prem Soni always wanted to work with Farah Khan. As Farah agreed to choreograph the song, both Preity and Prem Soni were happy and felt very lucky, " adds the source.

A unit member said, "Preity had a ten day rehearsal with Farah Khan before she started shooting for the song.

Everyday she would rehearse for 3 hours. She also was on a special diet and hardcore workout and yoga and swimming sessions to be in shape for the song.”

Preity does it for Salman!

You would be forgiven for thinking Preity Zinta’s doing a Kajre Re in this song for Salman Khan’s home production Main Aur Mrs Khanna.

Far from it, and the perky Preity doesn’t want any comparisons or confusion with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who shook her hips for father and son Bachchan in the 2005 hit Bunty Aur Babli.

Turns out Salman’s her buddy, and this is not an item song she’s doing for him, but a special number in the film co-starring Kareena Kapoor and Sohail Khan. “It’s an interesting cameo. The song’s called Happening and I agreed to do it because director Prem Soni is a friend. And since Salman has played Prem so often, let’s just say this one is for Prem,” the bubby actress said.

Prem (the director, not Salman) added, “Unlike Ash, who was just a part of Kajra Re, Preity plays an important role in the film.” Incidentally... ahem, Preity look’s kinda ‘happening’ because she worked out hard for the song. With two super fit actors in the film in Salman and Kareena, Preity forced herself to follow a special diet, take up a tough exercise regime and do yoga.

Preity Zinta attacks Shilpa Shetty

Both Priety Zinta and Shilpa Shetty are the owners of IPL team. They are strong competitors and Preity accepted this very fact on the 10th anniversary celebration of FICCI. When Preity was asked about her competitor Shilpa, she said, “She is not going to play cricket.”

The actress then said, “I own a team, I am an investor in the team, I am the chairperson of the team. It is very difficult for them to digest that I am the boss.”

Preity might have forgotten that Shilpa Shetty is also the boss as she is the owner of the Rajasthan Royals. While Shilpa was literally correct saying, “Our teams are in competition.”

Preity Zinta’s sports show debut

Dimpled beauty Preity Zinta is believed to be making her small screen debut by hosting a sports show. The show, which will be produced by Siddharth Basu's Synergy Adlabs, will give the actress a career boost.

Preity takes a keen interest in sports and is the co-owner of the team Kings XI Punjab.

Preity's show will even feature players of IPL fame 'King's Eleven' team and will telecast on the weekends.

The bubbly actress had earlier been approached to judge reality show India's Got Talent but she refused due to other work commitments.

The small screen is fast becoming a popular alternative for mainstream actors. The trend was started with Amitabh Bachchan hosting India's version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
