Newbie Sonal Chauhan was only considering a film because Mrs Bachchan heads the cast.
She’s a live-wire. Sonal Chauhan who has one super-hit Mahesh Bhatt’s Jannat to her credit, is currently shooting for a Kannada magnum opus that is being filmed at the seven wonders of the world, and also celebrated artiste MF Hussain’s son Owais Hussain’s film (tentatively titled Punjab) where she plays a solo lead.
Sonal who shares a secretary with Bollywood’s super-hero Akshay Kumar is also in talks with a couple of Hindi film super-daddies.
“However, I’m not in hurry to sign just about any film that comes my way without weighing the pros and the cons because I know one wrong turn will cost me a lot,” says the pretty Delhiite, who has now made Mumbai her home. Sonal was recently dragged into a controversy over replacing Ayesha Takia, and then Urvashi Sharma in a film titled Aap Ke Liye Hum that has Jaya Bachchan at the helm.
Says Sonal, “I've been maintaining decorum by staying silent and reading various reports in papers daily but I think now I need to clarify this one point. I and my business manager met Revathy S Varma and the producer together, at that time they had offered me Ayesha Takia’s role and not Urvashi’s role.
I am not even aware what exactly Urvashi’s role in the film is. Though I loved the script and the role I was unable to take it as they wanted my dates immediately but my dates were already committed to my Kannada film for which I am required to travel extensively. I am a huge fan of Jaya Bachchan and it would have been a great learning experience to work with her. There’s nothing more to this episode. I would ideally remained silent on the issue, but everyone around is talking about it, without as much as much asking me for my side of the story.”
