Suparn Verma, director of ACID FACTORY, is livid with rumours that ACID FACTORY has actually been ghost directed by the film's producer Sanjay Gupta. Even though the film's principal shooting was completed last year, this query has plagued and truly irritated him over the months gone by.
"Saying that Sanjay Gupta has actually directed ACID FACTORY seems to me on the same lines as Karan (Johar) or Adi (Aditya Chopra) being accused of the same for their home productions. I guess there is always a suspicion like this whenever a big film maker decides to hand over the ropes to a relative newcomer. It's my turn now", says Suparn Verma in a hurt tone.
Gathering himself, Suparn throws an interesting query.
"I have a question for all those rumour mongers out there. Tell me, why would a producer hire a director, pay him good money (and that too on time) and then eventually direct the entire film himself? If I was in the producer's place, I would rather buy a house if I had some extra cash rather than throw it around to a newer director without expecting any output", mocks Suparn.
A couple of months back, director duo of Raksha Mistry and Hasnain Hyderabadwaala had found themselves in the same space when it was widely speculated that Mahesh Bhatt had actually held the reins for JASHNN. The rumours died though when Mahesh Bhatt came forward in the defense of the film makers and denied his involvement with the Adhyayan Suman starrer as the director.
Concludes Suparn on an amusing note, "Sanjay has multiple films at different stages of production. He would have to be God if he were to be directing all these films simultaneously at different locations."
An action thriller, ACID FACTORY is a multi starrer and features the likes of Fardeen Khan, Dia Mirza, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Dino Morea, Aftab Shivdasani and Danny Denzongpa. The film is releasing this Friday i.e. 9th October, 2009.
