Sri Devi turns 47

Mumbai: Yesteryears dancing diva Sridevi is celebrating her 47 birthday. Before marrying to director Boney Kapoor, Sri Devi ruled the hearts of millions of fans by her superb acting and performance in Bollywood.

She made her Bollywood entry in the early 80's and continued her success bonanza till late 90s. During this period, she gave superhit movies like Chandni, Mr India and Chalbaaz.

Sridevi was born on August, 13, 1963 in Tamil Naidu.

She started acting at the age of four and made her lead debut in the late 70s. First, she acted as a child artist in the Tamil movie “Kandhan Karunai” playing the role of ‘Lord Muruga' in 1967.

Her first Hindi film was “Solhwa Sawan” which was released in 1978. After this film she had done many terrific movies one after the other in Bollywood. She had acted in movies like Julie, Sadma, Khuda Gawah, Ladla and Judai and proved herself the queen of Bollywood. The song sequences and movies turned out to be major successes and Sridevi soon became number one Indian actress. She had also acted in a number of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam movies.

In 1988's “Chalbaaz” she played a double-role as twin sisters in which she won her the first Hindi Filmfare Best Actress Award. In the same year she also received an nomination for Yash Chopra's “Chandni”. Yash Chopra again directed her in

“Lamhe”in 1991, where Sridevi plays a double-role act as mother and daughter and then once again she won a second Hindi Filmfare Best Actress Award.

Her fans love to see her with Anil Kapoor, Jitendra and Rishi Kapoor.

Sridevi married film producer Boney Kapoor on 2nd July,1996. The couple have two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. Today she is celebrating her birthday with her complete family.
