Arbaaz Khan: I realize the importance of big banners

Arbaaz Khan
Over the year gone by, Arbaaz Khan had quite a few of his films releasing in quick succession. MERE KHWABON MEIN JO AAYE, JAI VEERU, THE STONEMAN RETURNS, HELLO, FASHION, JAANE TU...YA JAANE NAA, THODA LIFE THODA MAGIC, WOODSTOCK VILLA, are a few of them. However, most of them have been delayed films that have only released in the recent past; hence giving an impression that Arbaaz is on a signing spree.

"Arrey that was all my backlog and I am glad I am through with it now", says Arbaaz with a sigh of relief, "I am going to be very selective from here on and you won't be seeing me in any random films."

Arbaaz is also quite sure that he would be choosing projects carefully only after ascertaining the credentials of the producer.

"This is why working with established banners has a meaning", says Arbaaz who has become wiser with time, "Earlier I used to feel that why should one run after a banner? Now I think ki banner aise hi faaltu mein nahi ban jaate. If there is a Tata or a Colgate or a Coke or a Yash Raj Films; they have all reached the stage that they are in because they built a brand around them. It takes time and lots of hard work and one should keep that in mind before formulating an opinion around the entire banner thing."

Seen this week in KISAAN, he also understands that at the end of the day, the banner is responsible for it's own worth in the market and hence higher the banner, the harder it would work to maintain its reputation.

"This is why the biggest of the banners still rule in the country because they have earned that stance and the respect. People out there at the top hold themselves responsible for their banner because they know that if their film fails, they all collectively fail."

No wonder, he has now opened his own production house and would be making his debut film as a producer under this banner. Titled DABANNG, the film would star Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonu Sood. The film is being directed by first timer Abhinav Kashyap.
